16/12/2015 - For every problem a solution

Handling products that are designed to provide protection and security requires technical expertise coupled with a customised logistics concept. And because the processes involved are often delicate, complex and challenging, it’s good to know that you have an expert partner at your side.

ATMs, safes, lockers, wardrobes and cabinets for weapons, explosives, chemicals, drugs, pesticides, valuable documents and keys – all such items present specific logistical and technical challenges. For example, a chain of fitness centres in Austria ordered a consignment of lockers which had to be collected from the supplier, delivered to various new locations, moved to the point of use, unpacked and assembled. And all of this in a very short time, because the customer wanted the Austria-wide rollout of 1,000 locker units within a week. Just as challenging was the delivery on behalf of a Vienna-based chemicals manufacturer of various cabinets for chemicals, pesticides and other substances carrying the risk of explosion or chemical burns. A job of this nature is made difficult not only by the sheer size of such cabinets but also by the route that has to be taken to the point of use in the basement, negotiating narrow corridors and flights of steps along the way. Karl Köberl, Head of Business Development at hi-tech logistics specialist tectraxx: “This type of commission generally involves more difficult conditions than the standard door-to-door delivery because of a combination of product characteristics such as size, sensitive materials, customer specifications or circumstances on site, the time factor and also the need to work with other service partners, certain types of vehicles or equipment and other special devices. So there’s always a catch somewhere.”

Extensive client portfolio
Fitness centres and chemical companies are just two types of customer that call on the services of tectraxx. Austria’s top insurance companies are increasingly upgrading their old filing cabinets for licence and registration certificates to modern lockable units in order to prevent document theft. The new cabinets are usually distributed by tectraxx on behalf of the insurance companies to the registration authorities in Austria. Because these offices have different opening times, it is vital to make arrangements in advance and to comply precisely with the agreed delivery time. The large cabinets weighing up to 130 kilos are delivered to the point of use, unpacked and assembled on site. Even more complex is the movement of safes on behalf of a Tyrolean assembly and distribution company. “One of these safes can weigh anything up to 1,000 kilos and require at least a four-man team to get it up to the third floor because there either isn’t a lift or it won’t fit in,” says Dragan Djenadic, Key Account Manager at tectraxx. “If necessary, we have to hoist the item by crane through an upstairs window because it is too wide for the stairwell. The customer is responsible for having the structural strength of the building checked and approved if the safe is to be anchored to the floor or the wall using heavy-duty rawl bolts of up to 25 centimetres in length.” Djenadic works on the principle that “for every problem there is a solution”. tectraxx often fulfils the role of general contractor to such business customers. This ranges from liaising with the police (e.g. informing them of the temporary disabling of alarm systems) to arranging for the necessary structural, fitting and electrical installation work to be done.

23/07/2015 - TENESO Italy opens new WEEE facility in Milan

MITSafetrans founded 30 years ago and based in Carugate, in the province of Milan, and with its extensive branch network provides a comprehensive and networked transport solution throughout the whole of Italy. Through TENESO Europe SE (Technical Network Solution) this service now extends into the whole of Europe.

MITSafetrans has quadrupled its turnover in the last 10 years and this growth has not just been horizontal. There has been a clear focus on vertical integration. The strategy is simple. “By providing additional services to our key clients we hope that this will place MITSafetrans not just as another supplier, but a true partner” It was for this reason that we recently opened a comprehensive WEEE treatment facility in San Giuliano Milanese.

This is a key strategic decision by MitSafetrans. In addition to providing a comprehensive transport network with a large a large fleet of vehicles authorized to transport waste, this recycling plant can perform a number of key waste handling requirements including the retention, safety, disassembly, recovery and preliminary deposit of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

This plant offers much more too. Giulio Chiaia said, “This was a major investment for Mitsafetrans. We talk about waste but we can also offer within the facility patent protection of intellectual property, the destruction of data on storage media and archives and the recovery of reusable components”. He adds, “The drive for this came from the medical sector where we manage the biological risks and sanitation but it naturally lends itself to the IT sector too”

MITSafetrans hosted the 1st seminar of the Professional Recycling organization recently to discuss the impact of the new legislation proposed by the EU Regulation n.1357 of 12/18/2014 and to show the delegates their new facility in action.

09/07/2015 - Its summer! Dutch TENESO partner Eijgenhuijsen Precisievervoer starts to deliver ice creams

This may not sound as daft as you may think. Eijgenhuijsen haven’t diversified into a new line of business. It is simply delivering and installing for its customer Veld Koeltechniek ice cream dispensers and ice bottles for UNILEVER in one simple move.

The ‘one move’ concept is a simple idea from UNILEVER that many companies cannot achieve. In the past, after the delivery of the ice machine, the customer has to order ice bottles separately from his supplier to fill the ice machine himself. Now the installation of the ice machine and the delivery of the ice is handled by one company.

Marcel Reurink, Managing Director Eijgenhuijsen Precisievervoer added, “After we leave, the customer can start selling ice directly which is exactly what they want to do to repay their investment quickly. We have frozen ice on board our trucks and we are installing these ice bottles as a finishing touch on the installation”.

He added, “We are also working on an extra concept; the delivery of freezers already filled with ice. We are utilising our trucks that have been fitted with 220V connections to keep the temperatures down to the right level during transport. We are pleased to be at the forefront in our customer’s minds and to be able to support them with these solutions to make their logistics more efficient”.

01/07/2015 - Bishopsgate Nightrider 2015

It began nearly 12 months ago with a chance comment by Jacquie Daly, Bishopsgate HR consultant, to Tim Bloch, Bishopsgate MD. “Why don’t you enter Nightrider 2015 with me?”…What’s that he replied….Well the rest is history! Jacquie came across the Aplastic Anaemia Trust when a close friend Helens’ husband John was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia. Tim, also a keen cyclist having rediscovered cycling two years ago, hearing about the small charity and the Nightrider, thought “I am up for that” and signed up thinking “let’s ride this one for charity”. On the night the team of eight were led out by Ian Bennett, Bishopsgate London Warehouse Administrator, who is well used to long cycle sportives and brought an air of professionalism to the team. Originally entering with the exciting thought of riding the London streets through a Saturday night, Tim was overwhelmed on reading the human story behind this event. Helen elaborated recently; I just wanted to thank you all very much for doing the Nightrider event and for supporting the charity which was so helpful to me when John suddenly became ill. The doctors kept saying they thought it was Aplastic Anaemia but they needed all the results back before they would confirm. We waited weeks and during this time John was really ill. Nobody tells you where to seek support or help and I found this tiny charity on the internet purely by chance. They were able to answer any questions I had and highlight centres of excellence to seek medical advice. John had a bone marrow transplant in March last year and has recovered amazingly well. He’s not totally in the clear just yet but it all looks positive. I see you’ve raised a fantastic amount of money already which I know the charity will find immensely useful. Thank you. The team were blown away by the support received from so many friend’s family and colleagues and would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause. 26/05/2015 - UK consignment barcode scanning goes live

It wasn’t so long ago that faxes were the next best thing in all things called ‘communication’. We used to receive our orders by fax and send across POD’s the following day when the drivers got back from their runs. We had to be at the forefront of technology way back then and this pressure to meet SLA’s and to give our clients what they want has never diminished…but thankfully the technology has! Our systems have a vital role to play in simplifying processes and making jobs more accessible.

Tim Bloch, Bishopsgate MD saw the future walking around the Milanese warehouse of TENESO Europe SE partner, Mitsafetrans. He saw goods being scanned onto a trunk vehicle and if the warehousemen had chosen the wrong product a negative sound blurted out to alert him that he had better start looking for another one.

Tim said, “I have always felt that we have been at the cutting edge of IT but I could immediately see the benefits of a system like this for Bishopsgate and its clients” And while the technology existed for this type of application it didn’t have the end to end capacity that Tim craved. Tim adds, “I knew it was what we needed so I spoke to Mandata, our software supplier, who we have a long and successful track record working with and set out my vision. I then quickly delegated the task to Jake and Sharon who I am proud to say have turned that vision into practical reality”

“Customers now have complete ‘track and trace’ of their goods going through the Bishopsgate network. How it works is simple; the crews’ barcode the goods at the collection point and scan them onto the collection vehicle. They then scan the goods off at the Bishopsgate transit depot for the ‘final mile’ delivery. If the goods are going say to Scotland from the south of England, they will be scanned at each touch point and finally being POD’d at the final destination. This comprehensive tracking, proof of collection and proof of delivery is now be available live and in “real time” via the Online Booking System”

And that’s not all. Our crews can now complete a standard set of checks on orders being delivered using their PDA. The software enables drivers to complete pre-defined checks, make notes, take photos and capture digital signatures relating to any item. Information is saved automatically to the website ensuring you have all the information you need saved against your job.

Sharon adds, “This truly has been a joint venture with Mandata who have been excellent throughout the whole process. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and everybody feels that there are huge benefits in being able to monitor their consignments in real-time and it reduces calls to customer services. The crews on the road have picked up how this works faster than any of us ever imagined and have been instrumental in its success during the initial implementation stage. The hardware investment has paid off as the scanners are much like the smartphones that our drivers use every day”

We have some more exciting plans that will follow but we need to take this one step at a time. We plan to ‘Go Live’ at the end of May 2015 following eight weeks rigorous testing out on the road. If any customers need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact customer services who are well versed in “The Scanning Project”.

10/11/2014 - IT Installation Service goes live in the BENELUX

Logo Partner

A major manufacturer of ophthalmic optical equipment asked TENESO Holland to not only take the machine to the room of choice but to link it up to their customer’s IT network. The service had already been provided by TENESO Belgium so with some cross border collaboration and training TENESO Holland are now providing the same service.

Marcel Reurink, Managing Director of TENESO’s partner in Holland, Eijgenhuijsen Precisievervoer said, “More and more devices will be connected to networks and internet. With this IT installation service Eijgenhuijsen provides a welcome addition to our portfolio of services to our clients. It will save time for customer’s technicians, less visits to the end customers and the old device can be returned in the same visit.”
He adds, “I can see real potential for this new service that comes with some considerable cost savings for our clients”.

08/10/2014 - How big can a magnet get?

The recently delivered Esaote G-Scan MRI that TENESO Europe SE’s partner MTAB handled this week in Gothenburg shows that they can get pretty big… 7,5 tonnes to be exact. The fact that it needed to be delivered 5,2 meters up through a glass wall, and with a 90 cm distance from the window to the floor didn’t make it easier. But thanks to the support from the TENESO Europe SE, MTAB was well prepared. The Italian TENESO partner Mit SafeTrans was helpful in discussions regarding different options and in analysing what possible problems that might appear.
