01/07/2015 - Bishopsgate Nightrider 2015

01.07.2015 – It began nearly 12 months ago with a chance comment by Jacquie Daly, Bishopsgate HR consultant, to Tim Bloch, Bishopsgate MD. “Why don’t you enter Nightrider 2015 with me?”…What’s that he replied….Well the rest is history! Jacquie came across the Aplastic Anaemia Trust when a close friend Helens’ husband John was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia. Tim, also a keen cyclist having rediscovered cycling two years ago, hearing about the small charity and the Nightrider, thought “I am up for that” and signed up thinking “let’s ride this one for charity”.

It began nearly 12 months ago with a chance comment by Jacquie Daly, Bishopsgate HR consultant, to Tim Bloch, Bishopsgate MD. On the night the team of eight were led out by Ian Bennett, Bishopsgate London Warehouse Administrator, who is well used to long cycle sportives and brought an air of professionalism to the team. Originally entering with the exciting thought of riding the London streets through a Saturday night, Tim was overwhelmed on reading the human story behind this event. Helen elaborated recently; I just wanted to thank you all very much for doing the Nightrider event and for supporting the charity which was so helpful to me when John suddenly became ill. The doctors kept saying they thought it was Aplastic Anaemia but they needed all the results back before they would confirm. We waited weeks and during this time John was really ill. Nobody tells you where to seek support or help and I found this tiny charity on the internet purely by chance. They were able to answer any questions I had and highlight centres of excellence to seek medical advice. John had a bone marrow transplant in March last year and has recovered amazingly well. He’s not totally in the clear just yet but it all looks positive. I see you’ve raised a fantastic amount of money already which I know the charity will find immensely useful. Thank you. The team were blown away by the support received from so many friend’s family and colleagues and would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause.
